Paula Louise Mcteer

Our beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Paula is survived by her husband of 30 years , Terry and children Alexandra ( Michael ), Brenden, Catherine and Davis. The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the Victoria Hospice for their remarkable efforts in caring for Paula and making her wish to return home come true. Sincerest thank you as well to the Home Care Nurses on the Peninsula for their care and compassion while Paula was at home. Paula (nee Thomas) was born and spent much of her early life in Kimberley BC where she enjoyed skiing, hiking, first aid competitions and friends. It was here she met and married her high school sweetheart, Terry McTeer. They recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Paula moved to Vancouver and pursued a diploma in Nuclear Medicine from BCIT. Her career saw her engaged with a variety of companies doing medical research. She travelled extensively throughout Canada and the US visiting testing sites. Her contributions to the field were many.
Paula and Terry raised 4 children; Alexandra (Mike), Brenden, Catherine, and Davis. She was fiercely loyal to and protective of her family, including various pets, over the years. The McTeers began their family in Vancouver in 1986, moved to Edmonton in 1989, and then to Victoria in 1997 where they have lived since. The early years involved camping trips and time visiting family and friends. In more recent years Paula enjoyed travel, particularly cruising and what might be called a once in a lifetime European vacation. You could make her eyes light up with a good Caesar. She was witty and sometimes a little mischievous. A conversation with her was punctuated with laughter.
Of late, life was more difficult as Paula battled a chronic disease and then cancer. Always a private person she met each challenge with dignity. As was her wish she spent her final days at home with the loving support of her family.
