Peter was born in Manchester, England. He served in the British Army from 1941 to 1946 in North Africa, and with the Persia and Iraq Force. He studied for the priesthood in the Church of England at Salisbury Theological College and was ordained priest in 1951. He married Mary in Llandaff Cathedral in 1952. He moved to the parish of Heald Green in the Diocese of Chester in 1953 and to Wallasey in 1962. In 1965 he accepted the invitation of then Bishop GFC Jackson to join him in the Diocese of Quappelle, Saskatchewan where he spent twelve years in parish work and four as assistant to Bishop Michael Peers. He moved to the Parish of Okanagan Mission in 1980 and in 1986 to Victoria, seeking retirement. This did not happen and he spent four years as chaplain at the Royal Jubilee Hospital followed by four years as Priest-in-charge of Saint Barnabas Church in Victoria. Peter spent two more years assisting at Christ Church Cathedral before returning to his beloved Saint Barnabas. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; son Michael (Judy) and grandson David, and by daughter Janet and grandchildren Victoria and Christopher. Peters ashes will be scattered in the Woodlands (Green space) at the Royal Oak Burial Park. Service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Saint Barnabas Church (corner of Begbie and Belmont). Donations in thanksgiving for Peters life and ministry may be made to St. Barnabas Church, PO Box 5252 Stn. B Victoria BC V8R 6N4.
