Philip John Macintyre

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather Philip John MacIntyre after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Philip is survived by his wife Gayle of 48 years, daughters Jennifer (Martin) and Christine (Paul) and 4 wonderful grandchildren Emma, Tyler, Oliver and Henry, as well as many extended family and friends both in Canada and overseas. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Violet and his older brother Malcolm. Philip was born in Arnprior, Ontario and grew up in the nearby village of Galleta. It was in high school that he met the love of his life Gayle. After they wed, they moved out west for work in the interior of BC. They had many adventures in numerous towns throughout the province and along the way became parents to two amazing daughters. After living in Yellowknife and once the girls left home for university, Phil and Gayle made the leap and moved overseas to Australia. Phil worked in both Papua New Guinea and Australia and during their time there made amazing friends and had many adventures. From Australia, they made their way to Central Thailand which they called home for 12 years. In 2013, Phil and Gayle retired to Victoria to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. They continued to travel and had many adventures, making great memories. Family dinners and holidays created even more. Even till the end he put his engineering skills to work as toy fixer: If Papa can't fix it then nobody can! Gayle and family would like to thank the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at B.C. Cancer and the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their fantastic care and compassion during such a difficult time. In his short 69 years here on earth, Phil created many memoires with coworkers, friends and family. His calm, quiet and friendly demeanor made a lasting impression on everyone who met him. He will be dearly and truly missed by all but we are reminded that this is not goodbye but until we meet again.
