Celebrating the Life of Pierre “Peter” Lachance January 2, 1939 – June 1, 2026

It is with deep sadness, yet hearts full of gratitude for a life beautifully lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Pierre “Peter” Lachance on June 1, 2026, at Gorge Road Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia. He was 87 years old.

Born in his family home in Montreal, Quebec, in 1939, Peter lived a life defined by hard work, determination, unwavering kindness, and deep devotion to his family. Throughout his 87 years, he witnessed an ever-changing world but remained firmly anchored to the things that mattered most: his loved ones and his many treasured friendships.

Peter spent many years working in the aviation industry, where he was known for his integrity, dedication, and sense of humour. Outside of work, he was an avid golfer and bowler, and a renowned social butterfly. He was happiest spending time outdoors in the sunshine, listening to his favourite music, gathering with family and friends, or cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens.

Peter's greatest pride and joy was his family. He was the beloved husband of his late wife Linda (née Gibeault) for 56 wonderful years; a loving and supportive father to David and Christine; a respected father-in-law to Dan Walters; and a cherished Papa to Hailey, Mackenzie, Aiden, and Talia. He will also be deeply missed by his sister, Cecilia “Cyl” Wylie (née Lachance), as well as countless dear friends and extended family members.

Peter leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. He will forever be remembered for the famous "Lachance Exaggeration"—his remarkable ability to take an already funny story just one step further — and for bringing joy and laughter wherever he went.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or BC Cancer Foundation in Peter’s memory.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Skyview Unit at Gorge Road Hospital for the exceptional compassion and care they provided during Peter's final days. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. J.P. McGee at the BC Cancer Clinic in Victoria, who always made Peter feel important, respected, and well cared for.

If there’s a great beyond, we suspect he’s already made a few new friends and found the dance floor.
