Robert Alexander Grant

d. January 12, 2019

Bob passed away peacefully on January 12, 2019 at the age of 77 years. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Ann; Daughters, Barbara (Jon) and Diana (Jason); Grandchildren, Justin (Liam), Andrew (Brittany), Nicholas (Brian), Scott (Ellie), and Natasha; Great Grandchildren, Chloe, Jordan, Athena, and Jason. As well he leaves his 3 sisters, Gerry (Jim), Linda (Glen), and Cathie (Rob), and sister in law Chris, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob was the third generation in his maternal family to be born in Victoria, B.C. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and travelled to the Artic on the HMCS Campsel on an ice breaking expedition. His love of the sea led him to a job with the Coast Guard where he worked for a few years before becoming an auto mechanic. Bob worked at a variety of small garages (Austy's and Lou's) before securing a job with the City of Victoria from which he retired in 1999.
Bob had a huge love for all animals and had often taken in strays. He also loved to tinker in his garage and had spent many hours teaching his daughters the basics of mechanics and welding. Bob loved to read books by Louie Lamour and was a huge Disney fan. He had a quick wit about him, a sense of humor, and a wee bit of a temper at times.
We slowly watched these loves and his personality disappear over the past few years as these were stolen from him as his dementia progressed. He spent the last 1 ½ years living at the Glengarry Hospital. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all who had cared for him while he was there. You are truly amazing for all that you do for the residents and families whose lives you touch.
Bob has requested to have his ashes spread at sea. We will be holding a Celebration of Life at a future date.
