Robert Kenneth 'Bob' Petersen

October 31, 1933 — December 21, 2020

Bob Petersen, loved by so many, passed away peacefully December 21st, 2020 at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria after a lengthy illness. Survived by his loving partner Donna MacFarlane, brother Jim (Mandy Green), sons Ken (Jean Thun) and Terry (Susan Barrett) and granddaughters Nikki Petersen and Lauren Petersen. Born October 31st, 1933 in Saskatoon, SK to Catherine and Carl Petersen, followed by siblings Carol (pre-deceased) and Jim. Bob and his family moved to Vancouver at an early age where he went to Britannia high school and made many life-long friends. After graduation Bob joined the RCAF, moved to Moosejaw and started his real passion, flying planes. He flew Harvard, T33 and F86 jets. An inner ear problem halted his flying career. He met and married Lorraine and moved back to Vancouver to start their family. Bob had various jobs but spent most of his career in Sales.
His other passions were people and sports. He loved the Canucks and hometown Lions. Sporting highlights included coaching in the Gordon Strutridge football league, winning the championship and taking his team to play in California and coaching the Old Goats and Junior B Flames hockey teams. Many great friendships and stories came from those experiences. Bob was never happier than with family and friends "telling lies and hero stories"!! When he was serious, he was very serious, when he was funny, he was very funny. We were privileged to have him in our lives. In 2002 Bob moved to Victoria where he and Donna made their home and enjoyed a great and loving relationship.
Gatherings will take place in Victoria and North Vancouver once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. In lieu of flowers, a please consider a donation to the Salvation Army, Bob's favourite charity.
