Robert Arthur Rampling

June 29, 1933 — March 20, 2016

Robert Arthur Rampling - June 29, 1933 - March 20, 2016 - died peacefully at the Gorge Road Hospital in Victoria, B.C. He was the beloved husband of the late Nora Beatrice Rampling (nee Lindsay) and long time companion to the late Rosalia Magyar and more recently good friend to Velma Mason. Predeceased by his brother Ronald, he leaves behind sons Alan (Irene), Mark (Kathy), Tony (Simona); also grandchildren Mitchell, Kelly, Isabelle, Tanya, Daniel, Sarah, Alexandra, and great grandchildren Megan and Sky. Robert was much loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
After a stint in the RAF as a young man in England, a career in banking with Lloyds Bank led him to the momentous decision of emigrating to Canada with his family in 1975. Joining the Bank of Montreal as a bank manager in Toronto was followed by various business ventures and time spent as a mortgage broker before retirement moved him closer to family on the west coast in North Vancouver. After moving to Victoria in 2009, his last years at Rose Manor were very enjoyable for him and he became a popular and enthusiastic member of their community. Robert could always be relied upon to have a lighthearted view and his sense of humour will be remembered by all those who knew him. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Gorge Road Hospital and the Royal Jubilee Hospital for the superb care that Robert received throughout his many health struggles. Special thanks to Dr. Geoff Inman, the VIHA Nursing teams, Beacon Services, and staff at Rose Manor for making this difficult journey more bearable.
Robert requested that no memorial or funeral service be held on his behalf. Please use this website to post memories and pictures of Robert for all to share and enjoy.
