It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Rolf Phillip Ernst on August 4, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born in Germany on October 23, 1938, Rolf later made his home in Canada, where he built a life and raised a family.

Rolf lived life on his own terms. He was independent, opinionated, and never afraid to speak his mind. Known for his quick wit and charismatic personality, Rolf could always find humour in a story and rarely left a conversation without a laugh.

Many in Port Alberni knew Rolf through his years as a taxi driver, where his gift for conversation and sense of humour made him a familiar face around town.

Rolf leaves behind his children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. He will be remembered for his unmistakable personality, his sense of humour, and the many memories shared with those whose lives he touched.
