Ron John Crabtree

Born June 1, 1952, and passed away June 2, 2023. He leaves his best friend and loving wife Barbara Duffield; siblings Judy (Alvin Bogoslowski) and Frank Crabtree;  sister-in-law Patty Duffield; and nephews and nieces.  Predeceased by siblings Fred Crabtree and Linda LaCroix.

Ron grew up in Ottawa, studied at University of Waterloo, and built a career in IT, working in Ottawa, Edmonton, Sydney, Toronto, Jakarta, Victoria, Kathmandu and Bahir Dar. A fun part of Ron and Barbara’s life together was travelling and residing in many parts of the world, especially in Asia. There were many adventures, from canoeing down the Sepik River to trekking in Nepal.  He was a gentle, patient and caring man who was devoted to Barbara.  With many interests through his life, including running, paddling, hiking, bridge, cooking, singing, gardening, DIY handyman, and pulling invasive species, Ron was generous spirited and had many friends.

Ron was incredibly strong in dealing with his neuroendocrine cancer, from diagnosis in 2014 to his passing. Loved. Missed. At peace.
