It is with sadness we announce the passing of Rosemarie Benesch on March 19th, 2026 in Victoria BC, at the age of 86 years. Rosemarie was born in Edmonton, Alberta on August 19th, 1939, and raised on the farm near Clyde, AB. She was the eldest daughter to Art and Babe Genest.
She met a handsome young bank client (Fred Benesch) while working at the RBC in Edmonton. They began dating and married in 1959. They welcomed their first child a daughter Velvet followed by sons Tedd, Graham and Chris. The family was complete and for the next 50 years she dedicated her life to helping people in their hour of need as a funeral director alongside her husband Fred. She retired in Victoria BC in 2009.
She passed peacefully in her sleep with family by her side. Rosemarie is survived by her daughter Velvet (Craig) Baker of St. Albert, AB; Son Tedd (Janet) Benesch of Barrhead, AB; Son Graham Benesch of Victoria and son Chris (Susan) Benesch of Shawnigan Lake, BC. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Cody Baker of St. Albert, AB, Nathan Baker of Australia, Grayson Baker of Victoria, BC, Nicole (Carl) Proulx of Edmonton, AB, Erica Benesch, Josh Benesch and Landon Benesch all of the Edmonton area, Jordan (Alicia) Benesch of Cowichan Lake, BC, Alyssa (Joel) Barter of Chilliwack, BC and Colin (Leanne) Benesch of Shawnigan Lake, BC, and her 6 great-grandchildren, Carter, Leah, Liam, Lillian, Charlotte and Aurora. Her sisters Carole Cash of Parksville, BC and Joan Czotter of Victoria BC, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Fred in 2021, her parents Art and Babe Genest, her brothers Terry and Tedd Genest and her sister Bev Lich.
