Rosina Rossi

Rosina “Rosa” Rossi passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024 at 87. Rosa was born in Bovalino Superiore, Reggio Calabria, Italy on April 22, 1937. She met and married her beloved husband Giuseppe (“Joe”) in 1958, before settling in Cranbrook where they raised three sons. In 1998, Rosa and Joe moved to Victoria to be closer to their sons and grandson.

Rosa was incredibly warm and kind-hearted. We could not have asked for a gentler, more loving mother or grandmother. Her kindness and generosity of spirit shone through every time she met someone.

Rosa truly excelled in the kitchen. She was renowned for her dishes and baking, and was always willing to share her recipes and techniques. She happily fed anyone who visited. Rosa also knew everyone’s favourites and made them regularly.

Rosa had a keen sense of humour - she loved laughing and telling jokes and was great at impressions. She also loved puzzles, gardening, and going on long walks.

Rosa is lovingly remembered by her sons Tony (Sikina), Mimmo (Marcia), and John (Amy), and grandson Michael (Jahan); siblings Giuseppe (Rosetta-deceased), Antonio (Giuseppina), Maria (Salvatore-deceased), and Rita (Domenico); and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and cousins. Predeceased by siblings Giovanni (Rosa-deceased), Vincenzo (Rosetta-deceased), Francesco (Lucy), and Liliana.

Many thanks to Dr. Donna Doyle and Dr. Christopher Franco for their years of kindness and excellent care and to Dr. Michael Vaughan for his thoughtfulness and gentle care in Rosa’s final days. We are grateful to the staff at Shannon Oaks and to the nurses and care staff at Amica Jubilee House for their wonderful treatment of Rosa in her last days.

At Rosa’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in Rosa’s memory, or to the charity of your choice. Cremation services provided by Earth’s Option Cremation and Burial Services.
