Roy passed away on January 16, 2026 with his family beside him. He will be remembered with much love by his wife Edith, children/stepchildren Karen (Ian) Christina (Ed), Christopher (Stephani) and Claire (Logan), brother Jim (Pat) and sister Judy (Clayton), his 9 beautiful grandchildren, his nephews and nieces.
Roy was born in Pender Harbour BC on February 24,1954 to Claude and Elizabeth Cumming. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also lived in the area. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Bruce, sister Roberta, daughter Leanna and stepson Ron.
Roy's childhood was spent both in Regina and on the southwest coast of BC. As a child he liked taking things apart to learn how to fix them and put them together again. It was no surprise that as a young man he received his journeyman papers and worked as a mechanic on Vancouver Island. He also spent many years working in the movie industry. Roy was a hard worker and always helped others as he could.
Roy was kind, generous with his time and his heart. He also had a fighting spirit that moved him through adversity. He was the kind of person who showed up for anyone who needed him—steady, caring, and always ready with a warm smile or a laugh. His kindness touched everyone who knew him. Roy will be fondly remembered by many people.
As your wife; you were the love of my life, you will always be with me sweetie.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matt Robinson and the wonderful staff at RJH ICU for their compassion and care.
