Ruth Humphreys

Ruth passed away last Saturday after a long illness. She had been lovingly cared for by her husband and partner of 58 years, Edward Harold (Ted) and her wonderful caregiver Echo. Her greatest passion was family. Ruth was the proud mother of Curry (Chuck Gaviller), Heather Dawn, Gavin (Sylvie Cloutier), Brian (Roxanna), Elizabeth Beth (Stephen Fernandez) and Anne (Jean-Pierre Vidal). Some of her happiest years were as a grandmother to Lorysa (Aaron Lansdowne), Emma (Nathan Jasenn), William and Alexander. Recently she became a great-grandma to Quinn Avery. She is survived by her sister Mary Newman (Don) and brother Alex McKinney (Roberta). She was predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Marge Hastings (Vince) and Eleanor Duz (King). She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Knitting, travel and community all played important roles in her life. While her absence will be felt by many, her influence will remain for years to come. A private family service will be held on Wednesday August 7, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Unitarian Church at a later date (please check back for date and time).
