Johnson, Samuel Bernard
Jan 15, 1976 - May 1, 2024
Sam passed away unexpectedly at the age of 48, in Victoria, BC. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Ayala, his daughter Madi, and his son Reide. He is remembered by his parents Patsy and Calvin, brother Pete, brother-in-law David, mother-in-law Freda, uncle Bill, aunt Joan, and related family members. He is remembered and loved by many dear friends and colleagues.
Sam was born in North Vancouver. He was one of the lucky few who knew what they loved to do at a young age and successfully followed this dream into a career. Sam’s talent, creativity, and passion for developing technical drawings of vehicles, ships, and homes was second to none. In his career, Sam was awarded a Diploma of Technology in Mechanical Manufacturing from BCIT, Applied Science Technologist with ASTTBC, and membership with the CIMarE, amongst other accolades. He worked most of his life in the ship repair industry, and for the past 14 years for the Ralmax Group, at Point Hope Shipyard and Esquimalt Drydock, most recently as Operations Manager. Sam loved to spend quiet time with his wife and children. He greatly enjoyed nature, including in the wind and rain, and liked camping and hiking. He dreamed of travelling the world by rail and container ship.
