Scott Conacher

December 6, 1952 — June 4, 2025

With profound sadness, we advise that Scott left us on June 4 after a long and difficult fight with lung cancer. Scott was a quiet man and he faced the challenge of the disease with incredible courage.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Eunmi, Big Brother Brad (Linda Yule), sister-in-law Ann, brother-in-law Chang sun-woo (Lee he-young) and niece Hayley (Andrew Shen). He was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Sunny Conacher and by his older brother, Peter.

Scott was born in Toronto in 1952 but lived his early years at the Valley Farm in Pickering, Ontario. In 1954, the family moved to Steele’s Avenue in Willowdale. That was home to the boys but the best part of his childhood was spent on the shores of Georgian Bay at Wendake Beach. There was no better sight than to come home from the last day of school to see the trunk of his Mom’s car open and full of supplies for two months of summer at the beach.

Scott attended Lillian Street Public School until 1960. Crescent School from 1961 -1966 and graduated from Upper Canada College in 1971.

From UCC, he attended the University of Western Ontario and then the University of Windsor.

In the early 1990s, the Canadian west beckoned and Scott bought a small video business at Whistler where he met his wife and life partner, Eunmi. When the business was sold, he retired to Nanaimo where he supported Eunmi’s journey to becoming a successful, professional artist. It took more than 20 years of tireless effort, unwavering love and support. Scott believed in her, lifted her, and stood by her through it all.

They ultimately moved to Sooke where in his spare time, he loved nothing more than to take their beloved pup. Temba, on long hikes in the BC forests or playing a regular round of golf with his friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Victoria General Hospital - particularly Dr. Kenneth Smith and nurses Kenzie, Peter, Gina and Haley. Their caring support and counsel helped immensely at the end.

Scott has been cremated. Separate celebrations of his life and friendships will be held in Sooke and in Toronto at later dates. His ashes will be interred with his Mom and Dad and also scattered on the shores of the Pacific - Scott and Temba on an eternal walk.
