Scott Chandler Smid

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Scott Chandler Smid, age 27, on November 30, 2023, in Victoria, BC, following a severe asthma attack.

Scott was born in Penticton, B.C. on March 31st, 1996. A spunky, yet compassionate young man, he was known to sacrificially assist anyone in need of help or an empathic ear. Scott was adept and creative, which lent to his extraordinary capabilities in the kitchen. His passion and courageous spirit fed his love for travel and experiencing new places, taking him to over eight countries. Scott's fierce loyalty to his family and friends always brought him back, with extravagant stories in tow.

Scott is predeceased by his grandfather, Martin Smid. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Bella Smid; grandmother, Diane Smid; aunt, AnnaJo (Mark); grandmother, Shelly; grandfather, Mike; aunt, Crystal.

We offer our sincere gratitude to the employees of Victoria General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, who cared tenderly for Scott and his close family in his last days.

A private memorial service will be held later in Victoria, B.C. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Scott’s name to Sanctuary Youth Centre, in Victoria B.C., supporting their care of vulnerable youth and young adults. https://www.sanctuaryyouth.org
