SHANNON DAWN FLYNN

Died: October 28, 2024 in Victoria, BC

Shannon Dawn Flynn of Cobble Hill, BC, passed away peacefully with her beloved sister Mickey by her side on October 28, 2024 after a brave and valiant 2 ½ year battle with bile duct cancer.

Shannon was the third daughter of William (Bill) and Rosamond (Roz) Flynn. She was born in Calgary, AB on December 4, 1962. She went to Bowness High School and later attended University in Calgary and in the UK. She became a High School Biology teacher and greatly enjoyed sharing her love of science with her students for the years that she taught.

After leaving teaching, Shannon went on to become a highly respected breeder of Golden Retriever Dogs under the kennel name of Coppermoon. Breeding and showing her dogs was ultimately her true calling and life’s passion. Shannon was known throughout Canada, the United States and the UK for her beautiful champion dogs. She moved to Cobble Hill on Vancouver Island in 2020 and lived there until her passing.

Shannon was a multifaceted person. She was an avid cyclist, hiker, wilderness camper, scuba diver, and skier (both downhill and cross country). She was a gourmet cook and loved entertaining in her home.

Shannon lived with her husband at various times in the UK (both England and Scotland) and Switzerland, and travelled all over the world. She dived on the Great Barrier Reef, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, cycled throughout Europe and Asia. Her amazing smile, infectious laugh, and sparkling personality made her friends with people all over the world.

Shannon was predeceased by both of her parents. She is survived by her sister Michelle (Mickey) and her nieces Sandi and Jenifer and their children, her sister Lauren and her nephew Wayne and his children, and her nephew Michael as well as by many friends. Her beloved dogs have all been safely re-homed.

As per her wishes, Shannon was interred on Salt Spring Island in a Green Burial Service on November 1, 2024. A memorial and Celebration of Shannon’s life will be held on Saturday, November 30 at Affordable Cremation and Burial Services (4392 W Shr Pkwy) at 2pm.
