Sorin Ion Pop

Born in Timisoara, Romania Jan. 3, 1967 to Ion and Luminita Pop.

He was an only child but was surrounded by the love of many aunties, uncles, and cousins.

He excelled in math and science and entered the University of Timisoara after grade school.

Like his father and mother, Sorin completed his degree in mechanical engineering and began his career working in Egypt with his mother on various, Nile dam projects.

Always wanting to immigrate to the west, Sorin applied to many universities for his master's degree in engineering. He was offered a full scholarship at UVic for September 1992. He flew from Egypt and landed in Vancouver. With two suitcases and $1,500 in the bank, he found his way to Victoria. Sorin met his wife, Chantal, after he defended his master's and was working at UVic. Soon afterwards, he started to work for Parametric Technology Corp out of the USA. Oct 1998, Sorin and Chantal had a magical, fall wedding with family and friends. In 2004, Sorin's first child, Cella, was born and he earned a Dean's List MBA and began working for KPMG in Mountain View, CA, aka "Silicon Valley". After 3 years and a new baby, Ethan, Sorin returned to Victoria and began working for the Ministry of Health. From 2008 til Oct 2023, Sorin loved working with the many creative, lovely people in and associated with the Ministry of Health. He loved motivating and helping people to achieve their best. He loved to laugh and enjoyed his life everyday surrounded by his loving family and friends. Sorin will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
