Stephanie Gabriel Emond

Stephanie Gabriel Emond (née Lovatt), age 68, passed away Monday December 18, 2017 at her home in Victoria surrounded by family and friends.
Born Feb 21st, 1949 in Dublin, Ireland, daughter to the late Stephen and Maureen Lovatt.
A graduate of Mount Royal University in Calgary, Stephanie  dedicated her life in the community to helping people with  addictions, mental health, and housing in the community for over 30 years.
Possessing many talents, there wasn't much Stephanie couldn't do when she put her mind to it.  An accomplished artist, writer, musician, and black belt in Hapkido.
After her retirement, Stephanie continued to help people in the community in Victoria and care for seniors in their homes.
Stephanie was always selflessly ready to help anyone in need.
She is survived by her two sons, Danann and Jason (Betty), and 3 grandchildren, Brendan, Carys, and Tristan.  She is also survived by her siblings David, Mark, Joe, Margie and Kevina.
Her sister Kevina Lovatt wrote:
"My big sister Stephanie, growing up in 1960s Ireland was hard, but the memories of my big sister will always be with me.
She used to tell witches stories before bed and scare the life out of David and myself, after the lights went out she would creep up the stairs and stick her hands around the door with her long false nails which she would varnish black and we would go onto hysterics.
The picnic we had around Blessington lake, with new foods I had never tasted before, stuffed tomatoes which I still love.
Or the outfit she made for me out of one of her own outfits which I wore till I grew out of them, to a six year old these memories shaped my world.  Stephanie left for Canada when I was eight, but we would wait for her letters home to tell us of her new adventures in her new world.
The three holidays I spent with her in Canada were magic times for me. In the last few weeks of her life she was with me in spirit, and will always be with me."
