Steve Bolton

September 26, 1965 — December 22, 2021

Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “holy shit…what a ride!”

This could not better describe the way Steve lived life.  Born in Middleton Nova Scotia September 26, 1965 Steve was described as a handful as a child - but was irresistible to the masses.  Spending his teens and 20’s in Winnipeg living life to the fullest.

Moving to Victoria in the early 90’s Steve worked in multiple automotive shops around town where he earned the nickname “Cameron Shaft”.  Steve left the rat race in 2001 to open Camerons Automotive and work for the toughest boss of all, himself.

Steve loved fishing - especially if the boat was fast and the music loud!  He always made a point to take the entire month of August off to take friends out fishing.  Steve was always happy to hand out his smoked salmon!

Whether it was a helping hand with moving, solving a mysterious sound in your car or pushing a random stranger’s scooter all the way home so he could charge the battery Steve touched the life of every person he met.

With an extremely soft spot for animals Steve’s closest companions were his dogs.  One could call Steve “the dog whisperer”.  Hopefully he is now enjoying time with Cinders, Tiko and Max.  Kevin will be lost without him.

Steve will be greatly missed by his family and friends - Steve leaves behind his father Lloyd (Maria), mother Jane, brother Mark (Deanna) and sister Angela (Trevor) as well as nieces (Halayna, Jaelyn) nephews (Eric, Kyle, Grayson, Chanse)  and a huge net of friends that were like family.

Gone too soon.  Steve passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 22, 2021 after an extremely short battle with cancer.  Many thanks to Dr. Alexandria Otto for her care and compassion as she helped Steve transition when he was ready.

A memorial will be held in the future when we can all get together to have the kind of party Steve would have loved.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to an animal rescue of your choice or the BC Cancer Agency.
