Steven Ronald Spalding

d. May 31, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of this dearly loved, generous and delightful man. He is survived by daughter Gwendolen and her mother and close friend Melanie, Ryan, sister Karen (Eric) and nieces Samantha and McKenzie. Steve spent his early years in Ontario where his fondest memories were of the summers he spent in Muskoka with his family and of the times he shared with good friends. As a young man, he was an accomplished marathon runner. His varied career began at Arthur Anderson as a CA but after he moved to BC in 1991 he had great success as a consultant to the Ministry of Forests, the OGC, First Nations and later to the oil and gas industry which led to his position as Chief Operating Officer of PMO Global Services. Work took him many places including Kurdistan, Chad, Columbia, France and the Yukon to name but a few. His energy was as legendary as his work ethic. It was not unusual for Steve to effectively manage projects in several time zones. He had a keen intellect and a genuine curiosity in the world he lived in. More interested in a person's character than their station, he made friends wherever he went and somehow always made time to keep in touch. He was renowned not only for his sense of humor but also his kindness. Most of all he was a family man and a truly wonderful father. He was loved dearly and will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on June 13, 2015 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra St, Victoria BC at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Steve's charity of choice Move, an adapted fitness facility is appreciated.
