Adelle Andrew died peacefully on March 8, 2017. She was surrounded by her family. Adelle was born in Melville, Saskatchewan. She spent her youth in Edmonton and Vancouver, got married then raised her family in Calgary, and followed her heart to Victoria in the early 2000s. Those who knew Adelle would say that she lit up a room when she entered it. She had a quirky sense of humour that drew people in, and she always found a way to engage with people around her. She was fortunate to have many close friends and acquaintances orbiting her world. Her vast range of creative pursuits were awe-inspiring and accomplished. Her many forays into music included singing folk music on CKUA radio and creating original compositions for documentaries. Adelle studied fine art in university as a young woman, but it wasn't until the mid-1980s when she found her passion for paint on canvas. Adelle was a long-time member of the Alberta Society of Artists and was represented by top galleries across Western Canada. She was well-respected by her peers and contemporaries, and her work will live on in the homes of her friends, family and admirers. Although her art provided her with much fulfilment in her life, Adelle's biggest source of pride was her two daughters Jennifer (Dorron) and Allison (Bryce), and she had a special place in her heart for her granddaughter Carter. There will be no service, as requested by Adelle. However, if you wish to honour her memory, please feel free to make a donation to Victoria Hospice.
