Vernon Edward Buchholz

Born in Eriksdale, Manitoba December 3, 1940, Vern passed away September 20, 2023 at Victoria, BC with his family by his side.

Vern was a longtime resident of Surrey, BC. Since retiring from Translink in 2000, he travelled the world with his life’s partner, Maureen. Given help from friends and family, he built a home on Mayne Island to the delight of his children and grandchildren who spent summers in Bennett Bay.

No project was beyond Vern’s scope and he had all the tools to prove it. He generously shared his craftsmanship and time. Music was his passion and he passed away with his guitar close by. Death by AML came suddenly and he is deeply mourned by family in BC, AB, MB, UK and Europe.

Vern is survived by Maureen, son Christoper (Erin), daughter Leah, brother Ken (Donna), brother-in-law Allen (Sheila), daughter-in-law Julia; grandchildren Grace, Ethan and Kaleb. Pre-deceased by sister-in-law Christine (2005), beloved son Sean (Julia) in 2018 and parents Grace and Ed (1973).

We thank the staff of Palliative Care, RJH Victoria for their dedicated service to the care of a wonderful man who never stopped caring for others.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family has gathered privately to celebrate his life.
