Tribute to Wendy

Morneau, Wendelyn Benita

Left this world and was welcomed into Heaven on January 26, 2023, at the age of 58 years old.

She leaves her family to lovingly cherish her memory: 2 daughters (Chantelle and Jeanelle Morneau), former husband but dear friend Vince Morneau, mother Heidi Oeste, 2 sisters and 1 brother (Sonja (and Henry) Zukowski, Verena (and Jim) Hepting, Elby Oeste), 6 nieces and nephews (Anjuli (and Travis) Read; Mark and Paul Zukowski; John, Nathan, and Nicole Hepting), and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her Opa and Oma Oeste, her Opa and Oma Reimann, and her father Wilfred Oeste.

Wendy was a beautiful woman with a loving heart and a wonderful laugh. She was caring and joyful, and had a strong faith in a God who became her dear friend. She enjoyed music with singing, guitar, and flute, and she had many delicious recipes that she prepared for those around her. She found peace in watching the ocean waves, loved growing roses and making candles, and played many games with friends as the “Dutch Blitz Queen.”

Wendy worked as an ECE (Early Childhood Educator) and gifted many young children with happy memories, by sharing silly songs, patiently teaching crafts, reading stories with excitement, and sometimes surprising kids with ‘new’ toys from her personal collection. She spent several years homeschooling her two daughters, giving them fun memories and laying the foundation for their futures.

Wendy loved bunnies, and raised many of them from babies into friendly pets. She often won awards at rabbit shows for the quality of her beloved animals, specializing in Netherland Dwarf, Lionhead, and Holland Lop breeds. She also loved crafts, which led to her starting her Bloom Candles company in 2022; she had to stop work for cancer treatments, but chose to spend her extra time and the little energy she had on adding something beautiful to the world.

Quote from Wendy, August 2022 - "Bloom where you are planted - whatever life throws at you, there is value and purpose in all circumstances.” She was a light to those around her, inspiring others even as she battled the cancer that ultimately took her life.
