It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Edwin Arnold. Bill passed away July 12, 2017, at the age of 82, surrounded by family in the comfort of his home. Bill is predeceased by his sister, Doris Wold, and nephew, Toni Wold. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Dianna Arnold, sons Ian Harrison (Keiko), Jason Wolf, Brian Wolf, daughters Donna Harrison (Mike), Karey Wolf, grandchildren Yuto, Myuko, Robeson and Zoe, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was born in New Westminster, BC. Raised on the West Coast, he spent most of his life on the ocean. As a young man, Bill first worked as a mate on the tug, Granby, servicing the Vancouver coast. Bill then cultivated a successful career as a commercial fisherman with a deep passion for preserving our ocean's ecosystem; first with his boat, Val Kyrie, and then a captain of his beloved Adella II.
Bill led a very active life during his retirement, enjoying the many children he helped care for in the daycare he and his wife established in 1998. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed cycling, hiking and taking friends and family on expeditions to explore the many shorelines off the coast of Vancouver Island. Bill is remembered as a wonderful man with a great sense of humour and sympathetic ear. He was always there to fix what was broken and offer wise counsel. Bill touched the lives of all who knew him and will be deeply missed. A celebration of life will be held in Bill's honour on August 6, 2017.
