William Fredrick Cody

William Frederick Cody December 31, 1939 – July 21, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Cody, at the age of 85. He passed away peacefully at his home on July 21, 2025. The family would like to acknowledge the amazing staff at Sunset Lodge for taking such good care of him.

Bill was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on December 31, 1939, and moved to Victoria in 1962. He later moved to Nanaimo where he lived for many years before settling in Victoria. He was an 8th generation cousin to and was named after Buffalo Bill Cody. He started painting houses at age 13 and continued into his 50’s. At age 30 he took in 3 teenage nephews for several months; It was a loving and lively household. He was a very hard worker and had a canned music business on the weekends and then later a video dating business. Bill had a lifelong love of Elvis Presley. He enjoyed parties, music, travel, gadgets & electronics & spending time with family and friends. He had a great sense of humour and loved to tell stories.

Bill is predeceased by siblings, Lois and Wayne and is survived by his sister, Jean, daughters, Debbie (Chris) and Penny, grandchildren, Cassie, Gerry, Cody, Bailey, Brandon and great grandchildren, Hayden, Kobe, Brody, Izzy, Savannah and Jack, nephews, Brian, Darrell, Gary, Darcy and niece, Brenda.

He will be greatly missed
